Uterine Cancer Mortality Rate Far Higher Than Other Cancers
The Christina Carinato Charitable Foundation was created to honor our fierce hugger Christina by doing all we can for the prevention and treatment of gynecological cancers. We vow to raise awareness, support research, and foster treatment for the minds, bodies, and souls of those affected. Uterine cancers strikes 62 out of every 100,000 women, but the mortality rate for those stricken remains far above other cancers; in the specific case of Leiomyosarcoma, while only striking 5 out of every 1,000,000 women, the 5-year survival rate is less than 2% with the 2-year survival rate being less than 5%, as life expectancy after discovery remains at 16-24 months. Studies suggest that funding versus Years of Life Lost (YLL) leave a huge discrepancy in the comparison of uterine cancers to other cancers. More needs to be done...
